I heard a nasty rumor that there was a 92-94 carbon fiber hood hanging around the shop (from someone's parts being swapped from a 92-94 fwd into a 90-91 awd). Is it true? Cause I need one. :)

yes we have one at the shop, but its not for sale, unless you talk to the owner of it :D

it's not for sale. The whole reason for the front end swap is so that he can use that hood on his 90'

Didn't know he was doing a front-end swap... thats why I thought the hood might be for sale. DOH

VIS is the one I keep hearing about as being the best (for an OEM look hood)... looks like those are $450 shipped........

It's ok but no my hood isn't for sale only because I plan on getting a CF hatch/trunk later on.

$432 shipped for a VIS hood off ebay. Good enough. :)

Guess I'll have to buy some damn hood pins too.

Ricer, get your car running right first. :lol

Only reason I got one is cause the stock hood on the GSX shell is fucked up... and I was thinking about CF anyway.. so why not get it now before the car gets painted.

And yes I am going to paint the CF hood to match the car, I hate mismatched "look at my aftermarket hood!" hoods.

i kinda like it because it reminds me of the old Trans Am Race cars. back when hemis, camaros, and mustangs had black hoods, taped off lights and 12" wide tires on all 4 corners.

i wanted to do it on my camaro, but i'm sure everyone would think its ricer and not know of the significance, even if i put the hash marks on the driver's fender (ala corvette grand sport).

ricer johnny.

i agree with james, the point of CF is weight savings not "look at my trendy hood"

Yeah while james had me slaving away at the car, the hood slid half way under it, and when i was setting the car back down it was slightly bent on one side, wasnt too bad, but yeah noticeable so... :own

Hey james I still have the stock hood 2. Besides my CF hood may be 2 ricey for you. It's an evo style hood

Well that and the hump is dented ..... and honestly I was gonna get a CF hood for it anyway :)

I already ordered the CF (VIS OEM style) last night....

I think if I spent 4-500 bux on a hood I would want people to see it.
I like the evo hood pizza guy has here but when it rains it holds about half a gallon of water. Kinda sucky.

They can see it when the hood is open (underside will still show CF)... but with the hood closed it will match the car. Bare CF would look like shit with the paint color I picked for the car.

Yeah I know I actually talked to VIS about that and it's mainly b/c of my hood pins and how I had them installed. Before then I may get only 2 drops come out. I definatly suggest VIS CF hoods. It's the only hood I know of that can go through gumball size hail storm with no dents or scratches, I also told that to the guy at VIS.

I feel the same way. IMO, i think the black carbon fiber looks good on the cars. Thats probably the only visual mod i would do to my car, it's ok to have some pointless show every once in a while.
